This was the costume made as part of my Final Major Project for my last year of university. The project was self-chosen, and is for a live-action musical film adaptation of the 1997 Fox Animation Studios film Anastasia. I designed for six characters within the film but chose to make the costume I designed for Anastasia as my final garment. The design is inspired by traditional Russian folk-wear and embroidery, as Anastasia is from St. Petersburg. The costume consisted of a layered skirt, smock-like shirt, and a fitted bodice. I designed and created all the embroidery on the garments; the most prominent being the Russian-inspired cross stitch panel on the skirt, which visually represents the lyrics of one of the most popular songs on the films soundtrack, 'Once Upon A December'.
