One of my second year university projects was to design for a group of characters from the Tchaikovsky ballet 'The Nutracker'. The designs had to have an influence of 18th century fashion and, of course, be appropriate for dancewear. The characters I designed for were the Mouse King, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Nutcracker, and the Spring Activated Dolls.
