This is one half of a two-part design project I was given during my second year at university. The project was to design costumes for a small cast of characters from Macbeth, with this half of the project being to design for a classical opera adaptation with historically-accurate late Elizabethan clothing. The characters I designed for were Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Banquo, King Duncan, and the Witches. I chose to incorporate my own textiles into my designs with the theme of 'the body' inspired by the murders that take place within the story; elements of these textiles that can be seen in my final designs include blood spatters, muscle patterns, a rib cage, diagrams of veins and artries, the spinal cord, and so on.
